Rare breast Surgery Performed by Dr. Vijay Bansal at Ivy Hospital February 21, 2008
Sharing details of the first organ preservation surgery in the region, Dr. Bansal said that though such complex surgeries were being conducted worldwide and in reputed medical institutes in the country, yet North India does not have the right kind of expertise in terms of trained surgeons to conduct organ reconstruction.
He said that patients suffering from breast cancer shivered and rejected the whole idea of cancer surgery, which implied breast removal, due to an overwhelming fear of losing the breast. "It's a common syndrome among patients, who are simply bogged down by the sheer thought of Mastectomy or breast removal" said Dr. Bansal. The patient was then properly counseled to undergo the surgery.
