Announcing her appointment today, CEO, Ivy Hospital, Mr. Gurtej Singh said that she had successful stints at AIIMS and SMS Jaipur. Dr. Priya has setup her own Department of Endocrinology at the Ivy Hospital. After doing her super specialization in Endocrinology from AIIMS and MD in medicine from SMS Medical College, Jaipur, Dr. Priya had a brief stint with Fortis Hospital as Senior Medical Officer.

While announcing the opening of the Chestha Physiotherapy Centre here today, Gurtej Singh CEO of the Health Mall, highlighted the latest techniques that have been employed there to provide services to a growing population of patients with physiological and orthopedic disorders.

Ivy hospital and cancer research institute chief executive officer Gurtej Singh said the new health mall would be a composite healthcare services destination with dedicated departments, specialities and clinics owned and operated by highly skilled experts and surgeons from the country and overseas. Seven specialities, including an advanced urology centre, advanced radiation therapy centre and a highly developed nephrology centre, are part of the health mall. The mall is spread over an area of 130,000-square feet. The hospital management plans to open a few more health malls in other Indian cities soon. "We will cater to the ever-growing demand of people for better healthcare facilities under one roof. We will have an international help desk for patients from abroad," said Gurtej Singh. He said that Rs 400 million had already been invested in the health mall and the total plan was to invest Rs 1 billion. In fact, facilities by Delhi's leading RG Stone and Urology Institute ans the Radiation Therapy Services Inc. (USA) at the proposed health mall would be operational by March end. Besides, the hospital has reached an understanding with renowned surgeons, medical institutes and clinics to offer speciality depatments in Oncology, Dentistry, Pathology, Laparoscopic and General Surgery at the Health Mall. An advanced Nephrology department and Dialysis unit were already functioning successfully from the 190 bedded hospital, Kanwaldeep, Director Health Services informed.
Rare breast Surgery Performed by Dr. Vijay Bansal at Ivy Hospital February 21, 2008
Sharing details of the first organ preservation surgery in the region, Dr. Bansal said that though such complex surgeries were being conducted worldwide and in reputed medical institutes in the country, yet North India does not have the right kind of expertise in terms of trained surgeons to conduct organ reconstruction.
He said that patients suffering from breast cancer shivered and rejected the whole idea of cancer surgery, which implied breast removal, due to an overwhelming fear of losing the breast. "It's a common syndrome among patients, who are simply bogged down by the sheer thought of Mastectomy or breast removal" said Dr. Bansal. The patient was then properly counseled to undergo the surgery.

With this, the hospital claims to have become the first hospital in North India to have acquired such an advanced unit, commissioned under Dr. Raka Kaushal, a Nephrologist. Even PGIMER, Chandigarh was not having an advanced machine of this level for handling and monitoring Renal Transplantation procedures and dialysis. Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Kanwaljit Singh congratulated the hospital team for having made a headstart in renal transplantation treatment, which is a daunting area in healthcare.
Rare tongue cancer surgery at Ivy Hospital January 14, 2008
In fact, the rare tongue cancer surgery performed by a team of doctors, led by Dr. Vijay Bansal, at Ivy Hospital and Cancer Research Institute, Mohali, gave a new lease of life to Amar Das, a daily wage worker at a co-operative bank in Ranwa village in Fatehgarh Sahib district. The complicated six hour operation involved surgical removal of cancer mass and 50 nodes from the upper neck and shoulder region, which could have caused dysfunction in several organs, Dr. Bansal, who was earlier with Tata cancer Hospital, Mumbai, said here today.
